Inland Empire Handweavers Guild
Next Meeting:September 13 9:00am
the Inland Empire Handweavers Guild is a non-profit organization dedicated to the art of weaving and related fiber arts, including spinning, dyeing and basket weaving. We see weaving as both craft
and art: we encourage excellence of technique; at the same time we imagine, explore, invent and create. The guild offers inspiration and instruction for fiber artists of all levels through educational
programs, conferences, lectures, and workshops. IEHG sponsors activities that increase public awareness of the fiber arts. Copyright IEHG 2010-2011

We discussed starting a challenge project at the September meeting. A fixed amount of yarn will be given to each
weaver and you can make a project of your own liking, adding additional fibers or embellishments. The guild has purchased the
yarn for the "Weaving for your Home Challenge", cotton size 8/2. Recommended sett, 15-22 for tabby, 22-30 for twill.
Review patterns from Handwoven and books for inspiration. Be prepared to warp the yarn at the September meeting.
Bring,Warping board, several members can share one. Scissors and yarn to tie a cross etc. In September, we want all
members who still have their scarves from the 2007-08 to bring them so everyone can see the diversity achievable in a
project.
In October, the Mountain Weavers will host us to dye the yarn and the projects will be shown at the June 2011
meeting.  All of this because Sallie brought up the wonderful guild challenges addressed in the most recent Handwoven
Magazine. . Suzanne Education Chair for more info click on Dye Day in the Mountains
